Boredom is a symptom that you find quiet moments painful, we consider this "normal" when really it isn't, it's a symptom of an over saturated mind.
Take time for 5 minutes to sit down and watch the boredom, it's uncomfortable but it's one of those things that if you confront it you can overcome it, you can confront it by watching your thoughts about boredom.
If you feel too uncomfortable with the boredom and need a break, ask your mind "to whom are these thoughts arising?" the mind may answer "to you" or "to me" etc etc. ask the mind "Who am I?" and keep asking it till the mind falls silent, you can then sit in peace with no trouble from boredom, boredom is just thoughts, unwanted thoughts disappear when you ask the mind questions about it's very nature.
You can also watch your breath as it leaves and enters your body at the nostrils, this is very effective of getting the mind off thinking about boredom and getting it to relax and think about the breath instead, yes this is a kinda meditation! but it works if you keep it up!
Boredom is a sign of over thinking, over thinking is a very common mental disfunction in many people, but you can overcome it with practise, it's worth it because, why would you want to be bored? why would you want to suffer from the stupid shit the mind comes up with?
